DAY 01 Jaffna Library


Jaffna Public Library in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, is the famous library in Sri Lanka by historical and Sri Lankan civil war. It functions under the Jaffna Municipal Council. The library was built in 1933 and burnt in 1981.

DAY 02 Jaffna Fort


Jaffna Fort, the second biggest Dutch fort built in Sri Lanka is an archaeological monument that has had a direct onslaught as a result of the recent 30 year of armed conflict. Although a portion of its seaside rampart had been destroyed due to a continuous offensive from the LTTE the fort taken as a whole has not undergone a severe destruction.

DAY 03 Keerimalai/Naguleeswaram Temple


Keerimalai is a town in Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. Naguleswaram temple is located in this suburb also a mineral water spring called Keerimalai Springs reputed for its curative properties. In Tamil Keerimalai means Mongoose-Hill, see Naguleswaram temple. Keerimalai is situated from 25km north to Jaffna.

Nainatheevu

DAY 04


Nainathivu or Nainatheevu, (also known as Manipallavam or Nagadeepa) is a small but Notable Island off the coast of Jaffna Peninsula in the Sri Lankan Tamil dominated Northern Province, Sri Lanka. There are boat services available and the boat ride is an enjoyable way to visit the island. The Island is a bit far from Jaffna and it will take around 2-3 hours to get there, depending on the availability of the boats.

DAY 05 Casuarina Beach


Casuarina Beach is in Karainagar, Jaffna District, Sri Lanka, about 20 kilometers from Jaffna. The Casuarina Beach in Karainagar is also called and written as Casoorina, Cashoorina and few other variants. This is said to be the best beach in the Jaffna Peninsula. One can walk a long way in the deep blue water with gentle waves moving towards the land.
You can a long way toward the sea in the clear blue water and a great place to visit to have a break during your travels. It is around 15 Km away from Jaffna Town.

DAY 07 Nallur Temple


The historic Kandaswamy Temple Situate at Nallur, 1 1/2km from Jaffna on the Point Pedro Road. The temple was built in the 15th century, by Sanpaha Perumal the adopted son of Bhuvanekababhu, the king of Kotte, who led an expedition to the North and brought Jaffna under the suzerainty of Kotte.

DAY 08 Sangilean Thoopu


After passing the Nallur temple you can view Sangilean Thoopu where the remaining of the King's palace entrance. This arch is found in the land where the earlier Tamil King Sangiliyan's Palace stood. Now there is an entrance-arch, but this is said to be part of a later Dutch building. The Sangilean Thoopu is about 2.7 Km from Jaffna bus stand.

DAY 09 Dambakola Patuna


This is where Sangamiththa theraniya landed while bringing the Bo saplings used at Sri Maha Bodiya. There is a temple and a statue of Sangamiththa theraniya.The Tamil name of this place called Mathagal and situated around 20 Km from Jaffna Town.

DAY 10 Kandarodei / Kadurugoda Temple


There is a historical place called 'Kandarodei' situated in the midst of palmyrah trees beyond Manipai about 10 Kilometres away from Jaffna. There are small dagobas numbering 61 scattered over about 1/2 acre land. Those small structures are constructed with ash-coloured stone. Some dagobas have only the foundation.
The special feature of these ancient Buddhist structures is that there are no square shape constructions above the global structures; Instead of that, there are umbrella shape structures one above the other next to the global structures.
